I will be lecturing to the Santa Monica-Westside Philharmonic Committee, and Affiliated Committee. My subject, appropriately for members of this volunteer group that supports the Los Angeles Philharmonic, is the history of the Western “classical” orchestra from the Greek roots of the term to the composer and organizations of the 18th century that helped to make symphonic works a mainstay of our programming today.
