Opera League of Los Angeles: Seminar on Puccini’s Early Works (Puccini100 celebration)
May 11 @ 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm PDT
I’m delighted to lead this 4-part seminar series, a deep dive journey into the world of this consummate Italian opera composer as the music world honors the 100th anniversary of his death. Join us for a lively voyage through Puccini’s life, his era, and the timeless melodies that continue to resonate with audiences worldwide.
In this “opening act” presentation, I will delve into the complicated reception history of the composer and his work, look at the musical world into which he was born, and explore his first operas—Le villi, Edgar, and Manon Lescaut—which trace the initial formation of Puccini’s compositional “voice.”
Membership is required for registration.
