What’s better than ONE fabulous pianist? Why, TWO fabulous pianists, of course! Mason Home Concerts welcomes the exuberant Vieness Piano Duo—wife and husband, Eva Schaumkell and Vijay Venkatesh—in a “beast” of a program, featuring the Bach-Busoni Chaconne in D Minor, Ravel’s Mother Goose Suite, some of Rachmaninoff’s Moments-Musicaux, and (drum roll) Saint-Saëns The Carnival of the Animals. I am especially excited about this last selection, because the Vieness Duo has asked me to do the narration. My preconcert introduction will explore the special idiom of “piano four hands,” and also offer some insight into the individual works.
