Another great opportunity to work with young musicians and talk with them about music history! The LA Phil’s Invited Rehearsal program is open to school or extra-curricular instrumental music ensembles—jazz, wind ensemble, orchestra, chamber ensembles, etc.—with players in middle and/or high school (grades 6-12). Students learn a little background about the works they will hear rehearsed live in Disney Hall. And this time, student will be able to watch Maestro Dudamel with his orchestra!

For this presentation, I will be focusing on Mahler’s Seventh Symphony, which offers plentiful examples of storytelling through orchestration, harmonic color and melodic theme.
