The first concert of this intimate chamber-music series features the Zelter Quartet playing works by Haydn, Puccini, Todd Mason, and Jessie Montgomery. Dr. Brown-Montesano will offer a short introductory “lesson” on the repertoire, focusing specially on Puccini’s rare chamber work, Crisantemi. Before the second part of the program, listeners will be able to hear from Todd Mason on the special playing techniques and thematic ideas in his String Quartet No. 1.
