SUMMARY:Invited Lecturer: Seattle Chamber Music Society Summer Festival (Zoom)
DESCRIPTION:My first time being part of the Seattle Chamber Music Society Summer Festival\, which is a real treat. I love the city and can’t wait to meet the lovely community at SCMS! \nMy presentation for their new lecture series will be on Rebecca Clarke\, particularly on her earlier life leading up to the composition of Morpheus for piano and violin—a work she originally premiered under the pseudonym Anthony Trent. Clarke’s resolve to work professionally in music and her impressive body of work is an inspiration for all. I am fortunate to have access to a number of documents\, including her memoir\, thanks to Christopher Johnson\, Clarke’s great-nephew-by-marriage who owns Clarke’s rights and worked with her during her final decade and catalogued her compositions\, with her assistance. \nI will be giving this lecture on July 21-22 in two venues—the Seattle Chamber Music Society Center and Seattle Women’s University Club—and as a Zoom webinar.
