This year’s “Grand Avenue Arts: All Access” event on Saturday, October 25, reminded the community that “Los Angeles is a playground for arts and culture, and Grand Avenue is its epicenter.” More than 14 arts and cultural institutions along this corridor in downtown LA opened their doors for a day of free exploration, learning, creativity, and plain fun!
I had a blast giving an interactive lecture on “Listening to Music” for visitors as part of the LA Philharmonic’s offerings. We had a good-sized group of very enthusiastic attendees! Many people asked if the session had been recorded and whether it would be made available online. While this was not the plan going in, these questions confirmed a couple things that I and my collaborators in the LA Phil Learning department have known for a while: grown-ups love to learn, too, and learning to listen more thoughtfully is a pleasure. Stay tuned for news about future events—including online content!
