SUMMARY:Preconcert Presentation: The Music Guild / SummerFest 2026 (Azura Duo)
DESCRIPTION:The times we live in… Due to the unpredictable visa policies of the current administration\, only two of the originally scheduled Azura Trio—Duncan McDougall (violin) and Yanfeng “Tony” Bai (piano)—will be playing on this concert. Sadly\, cellist Yejin Hong will no be able to join\, which is a real shame since this fabulous piano trio—currently in residence at the Colburn Conservatory—won the Grand Prize Medal at the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition in 2026. \nBut the show will go on! McDougall and Bai have quickly pivoted to a duo program\, with works by the three B’s (Bach\, Beethoven\, and Brahms) and Clara Schumann.  My preconcert lecture—an add-on ($15) for single-ticket purchasers\, but free for members—takes place one hour before the performance and includes with wine and hors d’oeuvres. \nFounded with the vision of providing familiar and comforting entertainment to the influx of émigrés who arrived in Los Angeles after World War II\, the Music Guild is one of the oldest chamber music presenters in the greater Southern California area\, dedicated to enriching the cultural fabric of our community through world-class performances and music educational programs.
