Zoom Course / Music Between the Wars
January 30, 2021 @ 11:00 am - 12:15 pm PST
The Colburn Community School invites you to join Colburn Conservatory of Music’s Chair of Music History and Literature Kristi Brown-Montesano in an exploration of music from the interwar period (1919—1939), an era which witnessed an astonishing variety of aesthetic and stylistic developments in western Classical music.
These creatively rich decades—bookended by cataclysmic World Wars—inspired composers to innovate, to look more closely at their national identity, and to explore “popular” genres and new types of sounds. Lectures will delve into the historical context and aesthetic ideals of individual works and related arts.
Note: Course meets on 6 consecutive Saturdays, beginning Jan 30, 2021 and concluding on March 6, 2021. Registration required.
