As a big fan of conductor Susanna Mälkki—and Bartók’s music—I am very excited to be introducing this LA Phil program, which also includes Martinů’s charming Oboe Concerto, with principal oboist Ryan Roberts and the US premiere of Miroslav Srnka‘s Superorganisms. For the first part of this Upbeat Live presentation, I will be joined by Srnka, a Czech composer and musicologist whose extraordinary body of work has captured the enthusiastic interest of top orchestras, opera companies, and conductors all over the world.

Upbeat Live preconcert talks are free to all ticket holders!  This particular presentation will take place on the concert hall stage, not  BP Hall.
