Another great opportunity to work with young musicians and talk with them about music history! The LA Phil’s Invited Rehearsal program is open to school or extra-curricular instrumental music ensembles—jazz, wind ensemble, orchestra, chamber ensembles, etc.—with players in middle and/or high school (grades 6-12). Students learn a little background about the works they will hear rehearsed live in Disney Hall. For this session, students will be sitting in on the rehearsal of Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 24 in C Minor with soloist Yeol Eum Son and conductor Ryan Bancroft.

For this presentation, I will help students understand more about Mozart’s experiences as a keyboardist—including a look at the fortepiano— and how his concertos combine orchestra and soloist in exciting ways.
