Los Angeles Philharmonic: “Invited Rehearsal” Lecturer
January 23 @ 9:30 am - 12:30 pm PST
Hooray! I am returning to Walt Disney Concert Hall to introduce LA–area music students to the background of works by Rachmaninoff and Nico Muhly. After the lecture, the students and their music teachers will attend part of an actual rehearsal of the Los Angeles Philharmonic preparing for a concert of Rachmaninoff’s Symphony No. 3 and Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini, and Muhly’s Concerto Grosso (a world premiere!). A special treat: they will see the fabulous Eun Sun Kim—music director of the San Francisco Opera—on the podium!
The LA Phil’s Invited Rehearsal program is open to school or extra-curricular instrumental music ensembles—jazz, wind ensemble, orchestra, chamber ensembles, etc.—with players in middle and/or high school (grades 6-12).
