The first Salon de Musiques of the spring season offers two of my favorites works: Mozart’s String Quartet in C Major (“Dissonance”) and Beethoven’s Emperor Concerto (in an arrangement for string quintet and piano. Rounding out the offerings is a Piano Trio by Ignaz Lachner with the relatively unusual combination of violin, viola, and piano.

And look at this crazy-talented lineup of artists! Benjamin Hoffman (violin), Kyle Gliner (violin), Carson Rick (viola), Allan Hon (cello), Ryan Baird (double bass), and Vijay Venkatesh (piano).

As always, the magic of this series is the combination of intimate musical performance, interactive education, and great food and drink! As musicological “co-host,” I offer some introductory remarks on the program and moderate the post-concert Q&A with the artists, champagne glass in hand!
