What fun to share insights about Puccini’s most popular opera as part of Los Angeles Opera’s “Exploring Opera” virtual seminars, open to all opera lovers! My presentation will focus on the winning formula—the exciting stylistic elements in both the libretto and the score— cooked up by Puccini and his collaborators, Luigi Illica & Giuseppe Giacosa. Kinetic ensembles, realistic dialogue, “songs” in the story world of the opera, and of course those marvelous Puccini melodies are just some of the elements we will explore.
