Point Counterpoint. In music this generally refers to a regulated and artistic method of combining two or more independent musical lines. More broadly, the term suggests contrast and enhanced clarity through juxtaposition. We will explore how both these meanings relate to a delightfully variegated program that spans nearly four centuries of music—from an experimental sonata of the early seventeenth century to the electric pulsation of 1980s minimalism.
